Woman, 26, Identified as Pedestrian Struck and Killed Near Airport
WESTCHESTER, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2024) — April Ritz, 26, died after a pedestrian accident early Thursday on Sepulveda Boulevard at Century Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport in Westchester.
The deadly, hit-and-run crash occurred at around 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 4th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and KTLA 5 News.
Authorities say a driver traveling southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard in a dark-colored Chevrolet SUV struck the pedestrian as she was standing in the roadway. The motorist fled the scene without stopping to help the victim. She was later identified by the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner as April Ritz.
Meanwhile, detectives later arrested the hit-and-run motorist identified as Eduardo Alejandro Leiva, 48, of Los Angeles. He was arrested on felony hit-and-run.
The Los Angeles Police Department is heading up the investigation into the hit-and-run accident on Sepulveda Boulevard.
