
Woman, 21, Struck, Killed in Fresno Crash
FRESNO, Calif. (August 16, 2023) — Araceli Regino Hernandez, 21, of Kerman, died Monday in a pedestrian accident at Clovis Avenue between Dakota and Shields avenues in East Central Fresno.
The collision occurred just before 2 a.m. on Monday, August 14th, according to ABC 30 News. Paramedics responded and rushed the young woman to a hospital where she later died from her injuries. The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner later identified her on its website.
The motorist was heading to work and traveling southbound on Clovis Avenue. The driver struck something in the roadway and stopped to find out what it was. The person called 911 for help after discovering the injured young woman in the roadway. The driver is cooperating with the police investigation.
Meanwhile, just moments after the pedestrian accident, a police officer blocking traffic on Clovis Avenue was injured in a second collision. A suspected DUI driver hit the officer’s patrol car that was blocking traffic and his police car struck him as he stood in the roadway.
Paramedics responded and transported him to a hospital. The suspected DUI driver was arrested following the collision, but there are no further details at this time.
Both collisions remain under investigation.
