Arianna Laura Hernandez, 19, ID’d as Suspect in Bakersfield Fatal DUI Crash
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 28, 2021) – Arianna Hernandez was arrested after a fatal DUI crash on Olive Drive in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 19-year-old woman was under the influence when the collision occurred on August 13.
The incident began when Arianna Laura Hernandez was driving a Ford F-150 on Olive Drive near Knudsen Drive in Bakersfield. She then went over the center divide and into the opposite lane.
CHP said her pickup truck then hit a Ford Crown Victoria over Highway 99. The Bakersfield Californian and 23 ABC News wrote that the wreck took place at around 9:22 p.m.
Ima Flippen, 77, Killed in Car Crash
A female passenger in the Ford Crown Victoria died at the scene. The coroner’s office identified her as 77-year-old Ima Jean Flippen.
The driver of the Crown Victoria, a 50-year-old woman, sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed her to the Kern Medical for futher treatment.
Meanwhile, CHP soon arrested Arianna Hernandez on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury. They also charged her with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Medical personnel took the suspect to a hospital with major injuries. Records showed that she posted $130,000 bail on August 14. The Bakersfield DUI crash is still under investigation.
