Woman Injured in Crash at Selma Intersection
SELMA, Calif. (Dec. 4, 2024) — Armando Jimenez Cadena, 36, of Del Rey, died in a fiery, two-vehicle crash in Selma on Tuesday morning at East Parlier Avenue and South McCall Avenue.
The traffic collision occurred around 9:36 a.m. on Dec. 3rd, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch log.
CHP officials reported the man and his female passenger were westbound in a 2002 Chevrolet truck and came to a stop at the intersection with S. McCall Avenue.
However, the truck proceeded to enter the intersection and failed to see an oncoming semi-truck. The larger truck did not have a stop sign and collided with the smaller Chevrolet. Upon impact, the 36-year-old Del Rey man driving the Chevy was ejected. The Chevrolet caught on fire with the woman inside of it, however, a bystander stopped and pulled her out of the vehicle.
Paramedics responded and confirmed Armando Jimenez Cadena dead at the scene, but his female passenger was transported to a hospital.
Investigators are working to determine liability for the Selma crash on Parlier Avenue.
The foggy weather conditions may have contributed to the accident due to low visibility, according to the Fresno County PIO.
Furthermore, it’s unknown if the speed of the oncoming truck was a factor in the collision.
