Armando Quintero Salas Killed in El Cajon Crash on La Cresta Road

One Killed, One Injured in Head-on Crash in El Cajon

EL CAJON, Calif. (Sept. 11, 2026 — Armando Quintero Salas, 25, of El Cajon, was killed early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle head-on collision on La Cresta Road in El Cajon, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner.

The 12:35 a.m. crash between the man’s Honda Accord and a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck occurred in the 600 block of La Cresta Road in El Cajon. Authorities say the young man’s Honda crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with the oncoming pickup truck driven by a 46-year-old El Cajon man.

Responding personnel pronounced Quintero Salas dead at the scene at approximately 1:03 a.m. on Sept. 6, 2026.

Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck was hospitalized with major injuries, police said. Detectives working on the case believe that an unsafe turn and speed contributed to the crash, but drugs and/or alcohol were not factors.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
