ARTESIA, California (July 9, 2016) – Three were killed, including two children in a traffic collision that also injured two more on 91 Freeway early Saturday, according to KTLA.
The 3-vehicle crash took place shortly after 1 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the freeway, west of Pioneer Boulevard.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said 33-year-old Lavell Mann was allegedly speeding when his 2015 Jeep with two children inside rear-ended a 2010 Peterbuilt gas tanker.
The impact forced the Jeep into a concrete median wall, causing the vehicle to overturn on its roof in the carpool lane. The Jeep was then struck by a 2012 BMW.
Lavell Mann and his two young passengers, 3-year-old girl Logan Mann, and 9- month-old boy Legend Mann, died at the scene. They were from Long Beach.
Meanwhile, CHP added that the 34-year-old woman driving the BMW sustained minor injuries and her passenger, a 6-year-old girl, was seriously injured. Both victims, who are from Torrance, were taken to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the gas tanker, a 41-year-old man, was unharmed.
