Marques Taylor, 15, Gahr High School Student Killed in Crash
ARTESIA (September 3, 2017) – Marques Taylor, a 15-year-old Gahr High School student, was fatally struck by a car on the Interstate 91 Freeway Friday evening, according to Press-Telegram.
Authorities said the teenager was walking for unknown reasons in the eastbound lanes of the freeway when he was hit by a 2003 Dodge.
When paramedics arrived at the crash site, just east of Gridley Road, the teenage boy was already deceased. Reports mentioned the deadly crash happened at about 11:30 p.m.
The driver, Sarah Beth Melot, 38, of Corona pulled over and stopped after the crash.
A vigil was held for the teen on Saturday on Pioneer Boulevard.
Also, a Go Fund Me site has been established for the young man who died by his family.
We offer our warmest of thoughts, our prayers, and condolences to the family members of the deceased as they search for peace and comfort.
Based on primary reports in this specific case, it is still unclear if Ms. Sarah Melot will be held liable for causing the collision that resulted in a fatality. There are still several questions at this time—was the driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the accident? Did excessive speed or distracted driving play a role? Did the driver run a stop sign or a red light? We trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine precisely what occurred in this tragic accident.
