Arturo Rodriguez Killed in Huntington Beach Crash on Edinger Avenue

Man, 24, Arrested on Vehicular Manslaughter, DUI Charges

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2024) — Arturo Becerril Rodriguez, 55, died in a two-vehicle crash last week with a suspected DUI driver on Edinger Avenue in Huntington Beach.

It happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 9th on Edinger Avenue, just east of Edwards Street, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Jyles Timothy Sellers, 24, of Huntington Beach, was driving westbound on Edinger Avenue in a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Authorities say he was traveling too fast and crashed into the back of a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by Arturo Rodriguez.

Paramedics responded and rushed the injured man to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Meanwhile, Jyles Sellers reportedly fled on foot, but was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter. The suspect later posted bail and got out of jail on Sunday, according to jail records.
