ASHLAND: Bicycle, Bus Accident on 14th Street, 168th Avenue
ASHLAND, Calif. (July 9, 2026) — A person on a bicycle was injured Thursday afternoon in Ashland after being struck by a small bus at 168th Avenue and State Route 185 (East 14th Street), according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported on July 9th at approximately 1:43 p.m. at the intersection of 168th Avenue and East 14th Street in the unincorporated Ashland area of Alameda County.
Initial dispatch reports indicated a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. Responding officers later identified the vehicle involved as a white and purple small bus.
The pedestrian sustained injuries in the crash, and the incident was classified by CHP as an injury traffic collision. The severity of the injuries was not immediately released.
Authorities later updated the incident to indicate it involved a vehicle versus bicycle, though it was not immediately clear whether the injured party was riding a bicycle at the time of the collision or if the initial reports incorrectly identified the victim as a pedestrian.
The bus remained at the scene following the collision.
For a short time, eastbound lanes on East 14th Street at 168th Avenue were blocked while emergency crews responded and investigated the crash. Traffic management officials were notified of the temporary lane closure.
