Ashton Mckiearnan, 41, Killed in Clovis Crash Near Ashlan and Sunnyside
CLOVIS, CA (June 20, 2022) – Ashton Mckiearnan was killed after a DUI crash near Ashlan and Sunnyside avenues in Clovis.
The coroner’s office identified the 41-year-old Madera man as one of the victims in the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday. Friends set up a GoFundMe page to help cover his funeral expenses.
The incident happened when Ashton Mckiearnan was driving an SUV with his family east on Ashlan Avenue near Sunnyside Avenue in Clovis.
At the same time, a black pickup truck was going west. The California Highway Patrol said the pickup then drifted into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into the other car.
Woman, Children Injured in Wreck
The truck rolled over onto its roof as a result of the collision. The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley wrote that the accident occurred on June 19 shortly before 7 p.m.
Ashton Mckiearnan died at the scene of the crash. His wife, a 41-year-old woman, and two children, ages 2 and 1, ended up hurt following the incident.
One child sustained major injuries, including broken bones, and the other survived with moderate injuries. Paramedics rushed them to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the pickup truck was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the family in the Tarpey Village area.
They soon arrested and booked the 35-year-old man into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI. The Clovis crash is still under investigation.
