Vehicle Strikes, Kills Man Near Santa Rosa Road
Atascadero, CA (May 16, 2023) – A pedestrian died following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 101 early Tuesday morning, May 16.
The Tribune News reported a person was seen standing in the median of the highway in Atascadero around 2:19 a.m. Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian attempted to run across the traffic lanes. As he stepped into the roadway, a northbound 2022 Toyota Tacoma struck the man. The horrible crash took place near Santa Rosa Road in Atascadero.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Atascadero
When medical personnel arrived, they immediately rendered aid to the injured pedestrian. Sadly, the man succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation process. At this time, detectives continue to work to determine liability in the deadly accident that happened on Highway 101 in Atascadero.
