1 Killed in Atwater Crash Near Santa Fe Drive and Spaceport Entry
ATWATER, CA (June 25, 2021) – At least one was killed after a car crash near Santa Fe Drive and Spaceport Entry in Atwater.
The Merced Sun Star and Merced GW News wrote that the tragic accident took place on Friday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 9:43 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Atwater. They crashed near the intersection of Santa Fe Drive and Spaceport Entry.
2 Vehicles Collide in Atwater
One of the cars involved became fully engulfed in flames while the other vehicle overturned upon impact. CHP added that a car rolled through a chain-link fence nearby.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then confirmed that one person died as a result of the collision. The name of the deceased victim remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of Santa Fe Drive and Spaceport Entry to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Atwater crash is still under investigation.
