Aubrey Player Killed in Pedestrian Accident at Duarte and 55th Streets

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 24, 2026) — Aubrey Player, 57, was the pedestrian who died in a car accident Friday at Duarte Street and 55th Street in the Central-Alameda area of South Los Angeles.

The collision occurred at approximately 8:35 p.m. Friday, August 21st at the South LA intersection, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police said Player was walking in the area when he was struck by a white Chevrolet Tahoe traveling north through the intersection.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Player dead at the location.

The driver of the Tahoe remained at the scene following the collision and cooperated with investigators, according to the LAPD.

Video from the scene showed a body covered by a white tarp in the roadway as officers investigated the fatal crash.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office publicly identified the victim as Aubrey Player. His city of residence was not immediately available.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
