Man, 22, and 1 Other in Mitsubishi Fatally Injured

Authorities have determined that the driver of a 1997 Mitsubishi only being ID’d as a 21-year-old of Avenal had been headed northbound before veering over into opposite traffic lanes directly into a Ford driven by a 65-year-old man from Tulare.

The aftermath of the collision left the passenger inside the Ford, a 56-year-old Tulare woman, with fatal injuries as she was tragically pronounced at the scene.

Major injuries were suffered by the 65-year-old Tulare man as he was rushed to Kaweah Delta Hospital.

Meanwhile, two passengers sitting in the Mitsubishi also sustained fatal injuries. A 22-year-old from Hanford and an unidentified person, both males, were sadly also declared dead at the scene.

The 21-year-old man responsible for causing the crash was seriously injured and flown to Community Regional Med Center, according to the Hanford Sentinel.

CHP officials have yet to announce whether drugs or alcohol played a role as the investigation is ongoing.
