2 Injured in Avery Crash at Highway 4 and Hunter Dam Road

CALAVERAS COUNTY, CA (July 13, 2021) – Two were hospitalized after a car crash on Highway 4 in the Avery area of Calaveras County.

The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident occurred on Tuesday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 8:19 p.m.

According to CHP, two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Avery. They crashed on eastbound Highway 4 at the intersection with Hunter Dam Road.

2 Vehicles Collide

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found two people who ended up hurt as a result of the collision. They confirmed that at least one patient sustained major injuries.

Medical personnel then took both wounded parties to a hospital for treatment. Officials did not disclose their names and condition at this time.

Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound lanes of Highway 4 at Hunter Dam to shut down for nearly an hour following the wreck. The collision took place on Highway 4, also known as Ebbetts Pass Highway.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the Avery crash.
