Ayana Council Arrested Fatal DUI Crash Kern County Highway 58

Ayana Council, 27, ID’d as Suspect in Kern County DUI Crash on Highway 58

KERN COUNTY, CA (June 20, 2022) – Authorities detained Ayana Council after a fatal DUI crash on Highway 58 near Bakersfield in Kern County.

The California Highway determined that the 27-year-old San Mateo woman was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck happened last week.

The incident began when Ayana Council was driving a 2016 Nissan Sentral west on Highway 58 near Bakersfield in Kern County. At the same time, a 2004 Chevrolet was going east.

The woman then made an unsafe turn, just west of General Beale Road. In the process, her car went off the Road and crossed into the eastbound lanes.

Woman Killed in Wreck

CHP said the Nissan slammed head-on into the Chevrolet. The victim vehicle rolled over multiple times as a result of the Friday collision.

The driver of the Tahoe, a San Ramon woman in her 50s, died at the scene. The Kern Golden Empire and Bakersfield Californian wrote that the accident took place on June 17 shortly after 8:15 p.m.

The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Ayana Council ended up taken to a hospital following the crash.

They soon arrested her on suspicion of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter. Officers charged Ayana Council with felony DUI.

The Bakersfield DUI crash is still under Investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP at 661-396-6600.
