AZUSA, California (December 30, 2016) — A 6-year-old boy was critically injured Thursday night when he was hit by a pickup truck in the 700 block of North Vernon Avenue, according to a report by the Azusa Police Department.
The crash took place about 7:42 p.m. last night. The boy had been walking across the street with his mother, but they were not in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a pickup truck traveling southbound.
Paramedics air-lifted the injured boy to a hospital where he is being treated for major heaed trauma, a fractured femur and internal injuries.
The Azusa Police Department is heading up an investigation into the collision and will determine liability.
The driver of the pickup truck stopped and stayed at the scene of the crash where he or she was cooperative with authorities. Drugs and or alcohol were not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
