BAKER, California (July 25, 2016) — Four people were injured early Monday morning when a solo car crashed on the Interstate 40 Needles Freeway, just west of Kelbaker Road, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The crash took place about 3:01 a.m. this morning near the Sweeney Granite Mountains Desert. The vehicle crashed about 50 feet down an embankment and overturned onto its roof. Several people were initially trapped, but managed to get out of the vehicle. A man who was hurt in the crash managed to find his way back to the roadway and flagged down a passerby to help.
Paramedics responded and transported the three passengers to University Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries and the driver was airlifted to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The crash is under investigation by police to determine liability.
