Baker crash Interstate 15 Afton
1 Killed, 3 Injured in Baker Crash on Interstate 15 Freeway Near Afton Road
BAKER, CA (August 23, 2022) – A crash killed one person and injured several others on the Interstate 15 Freeway near Afton Road in Baker.
According to an article published by the Victor Valley News, the accident took place on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 12:08 p.m.
The incident happened when multiple vehicles collided for an unknown reason near Baker. They crashed on the northbound Interstate 15 Freeway near Afton Road.
A California Highway Patrol described the vehicles as a semi-truck with a trailer carrying frozen foods, a 26 ft. box truck, and a Ford 350 pickup truck hauling a 22 ft. gooseneck trailer.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
Firefighters arrived and then freed a total of three trapped occupants from the wreckage. All three patients sustained critical injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced one individual dead at the scene. Two helicopters flew the other two to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas for treatment.
A fourth party survived the incident with minor injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the Interstate 15 to shut down in both directions near Afton following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Baker crash is still under investigation.
