1 Dead, 3 Hospitalized
BAKER, California (April 1, 2016) – According to Victor Valley News, a fatal solo-vehicle accident was reported Tuesday night on the Interstate 15 Freeway, south of Bailey Road.
The crash occurred around 10:00 p.m.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a 20-year-old was driving north when for an unknown reason she allowed her 1997 Toyota 4 Runner to veer from the middle to the far right lane.
The female motorist tried to turn, but in the process lost control, sending the vehicle into an open desert area. The Toyota plunged down an embankment and subsequently overturned in a ravine.
CHP told Victor Valley News that all five occupants in the car were wearing seat belts at the time. However the right rear passenger, a 19-year-old man, was fatally injured.
The driver and the other three occupants were taken to University Medical Center in Nevada with injuries described as moderate.
Drugs or alcohol did not appear to have played a role in the incident which remains under investigation.
