BAKERSFIELD, California (April 5, 2014) — At least one person was injured Friday afternoon in a 3-car accident on the eastbound State Route 58 Freeway just west of Cottonwood Road, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
About 4:38 p.m., the drivers of a red Pontiac sedan, a red Ford Excursion hauling a trailer and a grey Toyota Corolla collided in the No. 2 lane on Highway 58. There were also a couple of vehicles pulled over on the side of the freeway.
The report indicated that the driver of the Ford Excursion may have tried to “swerve around the original abandoned vehicle” and as a result there was a crash. The Toyota Corolla had major front-end damage. One vehicle with a side trailer struck a sprinkler valve.
Several tow truck responded to remove vehicles too damaged to be driven from the scene of the crash. Payless Towing, Commercial Towing and H&S Towing were dispatched to the accident.
