BAKERSFIELD: 3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 178, Near Niles Street

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (August 31, 2026) — A two-vehicle crash happened Monday morning on westbound Highway 178, just west of Niles Street in Bakersfield.
The traffic accident occurred here around 9:39 a.m. on August 31st, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officials reported a woman driving a white Ford Taurus sedan was rear-ended by a grey Hyundai Sonata. A black BMW sedan was also involved in the crash and possibly two others, the report said.
Paramedics responded to help a woman from the grey sedan who was injured and required transport to a hospital.
It’s unknown how many were hurt, but there were no major injuries, the report said.
The BMW, the Ford Taurus with rear-end damage, and the Hyundai with front-end damage were all towed due to damage.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
