Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Crash on Stockdale Highway
DATE OF INCIDENT: Wednesday, May 30th
May 31, 2018– According to KGET News, a bicyclist was seriously injured following a collision last night at Stockdale Highway and Rio Bravo Drive.
Bakersfield police officials responded to the crash which transpired at roughly 9:00 p.m.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the cyclist had been crossing the intersection headed northbound on Rio Bravo Drive before being struck by a truck traveling eastbound on Stockdale Highway.
The victim who has not been identified by name or gender suffered major injuries and was rushed to a hospital and last said to have been in critical condition.
At this time, authorities are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved and or if speed was a contributing factor.
Following the wreck, a stretch of Stockdale Highway experienced significant traffic delays between Ashe Road and Rio Bravo, per the Kern Golden Empire.
