Bicyclist Injured in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Crash on Lake Street

BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 3, 2021) – A bicyclist was injured after a hit-and-run crash on Lake Street in Bakersfield.

According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident occurred on Tuesday morning. Officers reported the incident at about 7:06 a.m.

CHP said a vehicle struck a male bicycle rider for an unknown reason in Bakersfield. The two collided at 2133 Lake Street near Mt. Vernon Avenue.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the cyclist left wounded as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel then provided treatment to the patient for the unspecified injuries he sustained in the accident. Officials did not release his name and condition at this time.

Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to help the rider and fled on Lake Street. They described the suspect as an elderly man driving a yellow Subaru wagon.

The cause of the Bakersfield hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
