Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Crash on Chester Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 29, 2021) – A bicyclist was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash along Chester Avenue in Bakersfield.
According to an article published by the Kern Golden Empire, the accident occurred early Monday. Officers reported the incident shortly after midnight.
Police said a vehicle struck the bicycle rider for an unknown reason. The driver hit the cyclist in the 300 block of Chester Avenue near downtown Bakersfield.
Driver Hits Bicycle Rider, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene. They found the victim who ended up hurt and left in the roadway as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed the patient to the hospital with moderate to major injuries. Officials did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the bicyclist and fled the area. Officers forced Chester Avenue to shut down following the Bakersfield hit-and-run crash.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect.
