BAKERSFIELD California (May 14, 2015) — A big rig truck collided with a car Thursday morning causing injuries and a hazmat situation on the northbound State Route Highway 99 at White Lane, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
A car that was attempting to merge onto the freeway crashed with the big rig truck and overturned. One of the truck’s trailer hauling hazardous materials also fell over during the crash. The driver confirmed there was 250 pounds of corrosive materials in the load and hazmat was called to clean it up.
A person who was in the overturned car was having trouble breathing and paramedics responded to help them.
“A collision with a semi-tractor trailer truck can be tragic, but fortunately it looks like this individual survived with minor injuries,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Hopefully they get the best care available for a full recovery.”
