1 Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Crash at Bernard Street and Elmyra Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 20, 2021) – A car crash at Bernard Street and Elmyra Avenue seriously injured at least one person in Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 2:30 p.m.
According to their dispatch team, two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Bakersfield. They crashed at the intersection of Bernard Street and Elmyra Avenue.
Car Collision Near Highway 178
CHP described the cars involved as a black Mercedes and a white Ford hatchback. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene near Highway 178.
A male occupant of the Mercedes collapsed as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then took him to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.
The name of the patient and his condition at this time were not disclosed. Meanwhile, CHP forced the intersection of Bernard and Elmyra to shut down following the wreck.
Authorities are still determining the cause of the Bakersfield crash.
