2 Injured in Bakersfield Crash on Highway 178 Near Union and Niles
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 23, 2023) – A crash left two people injured on Highway 178 near Union Avenue in Bakersfield.
According to an article published by the Kern Golden Empire, the accident took place on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on March 21 at around 12:15 p.m.
The incident happened when a Toyota Corolla was traveling in the fast lane of eastbound Highway 178 in Bakersfield. For an unknown reason, the car spun out of control.
In the process, the Corolla struck a Subaru sedan. The California Highway Patrol said the vehicles crashed just east of Union Avenue and west of Niles Street.
2 Cars Collide
Both cars then slammed into a concrete wall in the area. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
Both the driver of the Toyota and the motorist in the Subaru ended up hurt as a result of the collision. Medical personnel provided aid to the patients for the minor scrapes they sustained in the accident.
The report did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound Highway 178 to shut down near Union and Niles following the wreck.
The cause of the Bakersfield crash is still under investigation.
