Semi-Truck Involved in Head-on Collision
BAKERSFIELD (November 7, 2018)- According to the California Highway Patrol, an injurious head-on crash involving a semi-truck was reported this afternoon at Union Avenue and Taft Highway.
At precisely 1:06 p.m., CHP officials were notified that an alleged big rig had collided with a maroon SUV.

Inside the SUV was a mother accompanied by a baby around the age of nine months.
It was unclear how serious the injuries were suffered by those involved and whether or not anyone was transported away by ambulance to a hospital.
CHP did not disclose anything in regards to what happened leading up to the crash as those details also remain unclear at this time.
Following the crash, southbound Union Avenue was temporarily shut down for a period of time while authorities perused the scene and gathered evidence to help with the investigation.

Pending the investigation, the company employing the big rig driver could be held liable for the collision. Authorities will examine photos that were taken of the scene as well as compiled evidence will help investigators determine the ultimate cause of the collision. Police officials will look into all potential factors including speed, the possible involvement of alcohol or drugs, or whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by all vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
