Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Collision at Niles and Fairfax
Bakersfield, CA (May 7, 2022) – A pedestrian suffered fatal injuries following a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred in the area of Niles Street and Fairfax Road.
According to an article published online by Bakersfield Now, a semi truck hit a female party at the intersection in east Bakersfield Friday night. Earlier reports indicated the semi was heading east on Fairfax, and attempted to turn right onto Niles. In the process, the big rig struck the pedestrian possibly crossing the intersection. The horrible crash took place at about 8:30 p.m.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Bakersfield
First responders immediately rendered aid to the victim found lying on the ground. Despite life-saving measures, the pedestrian sadly succumbed to their injuries and died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, our sources mentioned the driver of the big rig fled the scene before police arrived. Investigators continue to work to determine several unclear factors surrounding the unfortunate event at Niles and Fairfax in Bakersfield.
