Truck Strikes, Kills Man on State Route Highway 178 Monday
Bakersfield, CA (September 13, 2021) – A deadly pedestrian accident occurred on Highway 178 Monday morning, the KGET News reported.
Our sources indicated a semitrailer truck was traveling east on the highway when a male party apparently stepped into the traffic. The truck driver apparently got surprised and failed to avoid the pedestrian. Officials confirmed the semitrailer hit the man in the area near Union Avenue in Bakersfield.

Shortly after 10:16 a.m., medical personnel arrived at the crash site. First responders found the pedestrian lying down in the middle lane of State Route Highway 178. Despite life-saving measures, the man succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
No immediate information was available on the truck driver.
At this time, investigators continue to work to determine liability in the deadly pedestrian accident on Highway 178 in Bakersfield.
