Bicyclist Killed in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run at Harris Road and Country Meadows Drive
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 28, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed a bicyclist at Harris Road and Country Meadows Drive in Bakersfield.
According to an article published by the Kern Golden Empire, the tragic accident occurred early Saturday. Officers reported the collision shortly after 12:35 a.m.
Bakersfield police said a vehicle struck a man riding a bicycle for an unknown reason. The driver hit him at the intersection of Harris Road and Country Meadows Drive.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the bicyclist left lying on the ground. He sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel soon rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where he died. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to help the cyclist and fled eastbound on Harris Road. They described the car as possibly red colored late model, small to mid-sized SUV.
Officers forced the area of Harris and Country Meadows to shut down for a time following the collision. The fatal Bakersfield hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
