Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in Collision at Taft Highway and Old River Road Tuesday
Bakersfield, CA (June 8, 2021) – One person died, and another suffered injuries following a traffic accident in the area of Taft Highway and Old River Road Tuesday afternoon.
The Bakersfield Now reported a pickup truck with two occupants was heading north on Old River Road. For reasons still unclear, the female driver allowed the pickup truck to veer onto Taft Highway.
According to the article published online, the passenger vehicle ended up crashing into an eastbound semi truck at Bakersfield intersection. The horrible crash happened shortly before 2 p.m.

First responders found the female driver unconscious. Despite life-saving efforts, the woman succumbed to his injuries and died. Meanwhile, the male passenger reportedly escaped death with major injuries.
Authorities continue to withhold the names of both the driver and passenger pending confirmation.
At this time, investigators handling the case continue to work to determine the precise cause of the fatal car and truck accident at Taft Highway and Old River Road.
