1 Killed in Bakersfield Crash on Southbound Highway 99 Near Olive Drive
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 12, 2021) – At least one was killed after a car crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield.
The Kern Golden Empire and 23 ABC News wrote that the tragic accident occurred on Monday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 4 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said three vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Bakersfield. They crashed on southbound Highway 99, just north of Olive Drive.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
A CHP dispatch described two of the cars as a black colored minivan and a Toyota Camry. One of the vehicles involved rolled onto its side upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and confirmed that one person died as a result of the collision.
The name of the deceased victim remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if any other party sustained injuries after the incident.
Officials forced the southbound lanes of Highway 99 near Olive Drive to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Bakersfield crash is still under investigation.
