Bakersfield Fatal Car Crash on Maricopa Highway (Highway 166)
At 11:50 p.m., a 24-year-old man driving a Nissan Altima lost control and crashed causing him to be ejected from the vehicle.
The car quickly erupted into flames trapping the passenger inside, an 18-year-old girl.
The man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He remains unidentified.
The 18-year-old girl was rescued from the burning vehicle. She was seriously injured and rushed to a trauma center, where her condition have not been updated. She also remains unidentified as this time.
California Highway Patrol officials are investigating.
