BAKERSFIELD (July 30, 2018) – A fatal traffic collision took place on the Interstate 5 Freeway late Sunday night, July 29, according to California Highway Patrol and 23 ABC News.
The accident occurred at about 10 p.m., south of Stockdale Highway.
As per the reports, CHP said for an unknown reason two vehicles collided on the southbound 5 Freeway. One of the cars involved rolled over as a result of the crash.
Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the scene and attended to the parties of both vehicles. At least one person was confirmed to have been killed in the wreck.
The name of the deceased has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Officials did not specify the number of the wounded people and the extent of the injuries they sustained.
Meanwhile, southbound lanes were forced to shut down following the incident. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
