Passenger Killed in Traffic Collision on Highway 178 Sunday
Bakersfield, CA (July 13, 2021) – A 17-year-old man died following a car crash that occurred on Highway 178 on July 11, Sunday.
According to KGET News, the teenager was a passenger in a Hyundai car traveling west on Highway 178 in Bakersfield. Primary reports indicated the driver was about to exit the freeway through the Beale Avenue offramp.
The article published online indicated the motorist made an unsafe turn to avoid an object in the roadway. As a result, the driver lost control and caused the Hyundai to traveling out of control. Officials said the Hyundai struck a raised asphalt curb and overturned onto its roof. The vehicle came to a rest within the offramp.
Shortly after 9:45 p.m., emergency teams arrived at the location and found a body lying on the ground. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the ejected person but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died.

Meanwhile, the driver, a 22-year-old, reportedly escaped death with minor injuries. The motorist apparently declined treatment.
Investigators continue to work at this time to determine liability in the fatal car crash on Highway 178.
