 Bakersfield Fatal Crash Highway 99, Rosedale Highway (July 12)BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (July 13, 2021) — A Bakersfield fatal crash on Highway 99 left one person with fatal injuries.

The 4-vehicle collision happened about 4:10 p.m. on July 12th, just north of Rosedale Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers were called to southbound highway 99 north of Rosedale highway around 4:10 p.m.

Multi-Vehicle Bakersfield Fatal Collision on Highway 99

Three drivers were traveling south in the construction by-pass lane. As they slowed down for stopped traffic a fourth driver approached at an unknown speed. This driver did not slow down for stopped traffic as the others had done.

As a result, the driver crashed into the back of one of the vehicles and subsequently caused a chain reaction crash with the other motorists.

Meanwhile, the man who died was the driver who caused the initial collision, police said. A second driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Additionally, investigators do not suspect drugs and or alcohol were factors in the Bakersfield Fatal Crash Highway 99.
