1 Killed, 1 Badly Injured in Bakersfield Crash at White Lane and Hughes Lane
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 13, 2022) – A DUI crash killed one person and badly injured another at White Lane and Hughes Lane in Bakersfield.
According to the Kern Golden Empire and Bakersfield Californian, the tragic accident took place early Friday. Officers reported the wreck at around 12:30 a.m.
The incident began when a BMW was driving recklessly in the area of South H Street and Planz Road. The car continued and then slammed into a Toyota Camry.
Bakersfield police said the two vehicles crashed at the intersection of White Lane and Hughes Lane. The motorist in the Toyota sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
DUI Reckless Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene. Medical personnel took the reckless driver to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, police determined that the suspect was under the influence at the time of the wreck.
They soon arrested him. Officers forced the area of White Lane and Hughes Lane to shut down for hours following the incident.
