Motorcyclist Killed in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 184 Near Highway 223
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 20, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 184 near Bakersfield.
According to an article published by the 23 ABC News, the tragic accident took place on Thursday night. Officers reported the wreck at around 8:45 p.m.
The incident happened when a man was riding a 2020 Suzuki motorcycle south on Highway 184 near Bakersfield. At the same time, an SUV was going north.
The California Highway Patrol said the motorcyclist turned and collided with the side of the other vehicle. They crashed on August 19 just north of Highway 223.
Motorcycle and Car Collide
The rider ended up thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the collision. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found him left lying on the ground.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver of the SUV did not stop to help the rider and fled the area. Officers forced a stretch of Highway 184 to shut down following the Bakersfield collision.
The cause of the fatal hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
