Bakersfield Fatal Pedestrian Accident Niles Street July 29

Pedestrian Killed in Bakersfield Crash on Niles Street Near Virginia and West

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 29, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after an accident on Niles Street near Virginia Street in Bakersfield.

According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic crash took place on Thursday night. Officers then reported the incident at about 8:51 p.m.

CHP said a vehicle struck a male pedestrian for an unknown reason in Bakersfield. The driver hit him at 1709 Niles Street between Virginia Street and West Drive.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the man in his 50s lying on the ground as a result of the collision. He soon died at the scene.

The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Niles Street to shut down for a time following the accident.

The Bakersfield Now wrote that the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the victim. The cause of the fatal Bakersfield pedestrian collision is still under investigation.
