Man Killed in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Crash on Golden State Highway
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 3, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Golden State Highway in Bakersfield.
The incident happened when a male pedestrian was with a dog on northbound Golden State Highway in Bakersfield. For an unknown reason, a vehicle struck them in the No. 2. lane.
The California Highway Patrol said the driver involved hit the two south of Airport Drive, near F Street. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene.

They found the man and his dog left lying on the ground as a result of the crash. Medical personnel rushed him to the Kern Medical, where he died.
His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the victim and then fled the area.
They described the car as a 2016-2018 Kia Optima. The Kia sustained right front damage to the fender and wheel well after hitting the pedestrian. Authorities are still searching for the suspect.
Officials forced the northbound lanes of Golden State Highway to close following the hit-and-run collision. The fatal Bakersfield accident is still under investigation.
