Pedestrian Killed in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run on South Union Avenue Near Pacheco
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 2, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on South Union Avenue in Bakersfield.
The Kern Golden Empire wrote that the fatal accident took place late Saturday night. Officers reported the collision shortly after 10:50 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason. The driver hit the person on South Union Avenue, just south of Pacheco Road, in Bakersfield.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the victim left lying on the ground. The patient sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the person dead at the scene. The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to help the pedestrian and fled northbound on South Union Avenue. They described the car as a dark-colored sedan.
The cause of the Bakersfield hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
