The crash took place about 5:17 a.m. this morning near Hermosa Road. Two vehicles collided head-on and one person was found unconscious in a vehicle. Paramedics responded to the scene to help the injured. Both drivers and one passenger suffered major injuries and were transported to Kern County Medical Center.
Bakersfield Now reported an 18-year-old female driver in one of the two vehicles was allegedly distracted by her cell phone. She reportedly veered into oncoming traffic and struck the second vehicle.
Police closed down the southbound lanes to clean up debris and investigate the collision.
