Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Accident on White Lane; Ruben Etcheverria Arrested

Child, 3, Hit and Injured by Vehicle on White Lane Thursday

BAKERSFIELD, Ca (April 23, 2020) – A 3-year-old child suffered injuries following a suspected hit-and-run collision on White Lane, according to Bakersfield Now News.

The crash happened Thursday around 5 a.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed 46-year-old Ruben Venegas Etcheverria was driving a vehicle traveling at an unknown direction on White Lane. When the man motorist approached the 2500 block of White Lane, a child apparently wandered into the roadway.

Officials said Etcheverria struck the kid. The collision resulted in serious injuries to the unidentified child. Paramedics rushed the patient to a hospital, where her was listed in critical but stable condition.

Meanwhile, Etcheverria reportedly fled the scene following the cras. However, the driver apparently returned to the crash site an hour later. Police then arrested the man for felony hit-and-run involving injury.

Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
