1 Badly Injured in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Crash at Highway 178 and Union Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 25, 2021) – One was badly injured after a hit-and-run crash at Highway 178 and Union Avenue in Bakersfield.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident occurred on Sunday afternoon. Officers reported the incident at about 2:22 p.m.
CHP said a vehicle struck a person for an unknown reason on westbound Highway 178 at Union Avenue in Bakersfield.
Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene. They then found the victim left lying on the ground as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed the patient to the Kern Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver involved did not stop to render aid and fled the area. Officers forced a portion of Highway 178 to close following the Bakersfield crash.
Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run motorist.
