BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 29, 2023) — An 18-year-old driver was injured Saturday when she was rear-ended in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 46 in Bakersfield.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 2:50 a.m. on June 24th, according to the Buttonwillow California Highway Patrol.
She had been traveling eastbound on Highway 46 when a driver rear-ended her 2021 Nissan Versa, KGET reports. The young woman suffered major injuries in the collision, just west of Holloway Road, police said. However, the driver who struck her vehicle fled the scene without stopping to help her.
Paramedics transported her by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Meanwhile, detectives handling the case found evidence from the suspect’s vehicle. The parts belong to a 2015-2019 GMC Sierra 2500 HD, the CHP said.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
