1 Injured in Bakersfield DUI Hit-and-Run Accident on Chester Avenue
BAKERSFIELD (May 15, 2018) – One was hospitalized after an alleged DUI hit-and-run crash along Chester Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, according to 23 ABC News.
Bakersfield police said series of traffic collisions began at around 2:15 p.m. when a 40-year-old man became involved in a non-injury crash in the 100 block of Chester Avenue near 1st Street.
The man fled and then collided with at least one vehicle in the 10 block of South Chester Avenue near Brundage Lane. The suspect, Johnnie Moore, did not stop and left the scene.
As per the article, a driver in the second incident was transported to a local hospital for a complaint of pain. The name of the victim was not immediately released.

Meanwhile, Moore ultimately struck an unoccupied Bakersfield Police Department Service Technician’s truck after fleeing the first two crashes. The Bakersfield resident abandoned his vehicle in the 1400 block of Cheatham Avenure near Cottonwood Road and East Casa Loma Drive.
Moore was later found and taken into custody. He was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, three counts of hit and run, evading, and resisting arrest and was booked into the Kern County Jail following medical clearance at a local hospital.

It is evident that Mr. Johnnie Moore will be held responsible for causing the series of collision that injured one innocent driver involved. Regardless of his reasons, leaving the area following a crash is a serious crime and is punishable by law, especially if the crash hurt another individual.
Aside from hit-and-run, the suspect is also accused of driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. The wounded motorist has then the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit, seeking a compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
