Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Big Rig Truck on Bena Road
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Feb. 1, 2024) — A fatal motorcycle accident involving a big rig truck happened Wednesday afternoon on Bena Road just east of Bakersfield.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 1 p.m. on Jan. 31st, just east of Nuemarkle Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist was reportedly riding a Suzuki bike east on Bena Road. He was traveling at about 30 mph and slowed down to make a left-hand turn. While he was turning left, an oncoming truck driver tried to avoid hitting the motorcyclist and also made a left-hand turn. Unfortunately, the truck’s right front side hit the rider in a fatal collision.
The 53-year-old Lamont man driving the truck reportedly stopped and called 911 for help. Unfortunately, the motorcycle rider sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.
Authorities investigating the deadly crash do not know if drugs and or alcohol were factors.
Finally, the identity of the motorcyclist will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office after relatives have been notified.
The case remains under investigation to determine fault.
