Fatal Crash Edison Highway and Sterling Road
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 16, 2021) – A fatal Bakersfield motorcycle crash on Edison Highway happened Wednesday morning near Sterling Road.
The fatal crash happened around 5:00 a.m. between a car and the motorcyclist, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision resulted after a woman driving the SUV allegedly collided with the 38-year-old man riding the motorcycle. However, the woman told authorities the motorcycle rider struck her vehicle’s left side.
Edison Highway Crash in Bakersfield
The motorcyclist, however, had the right of way when the Ford SUV pulled out in front of the bike. The SUV was exiting a driveway at 3615 Edison Highway, according to KGET. Furthermore, paramedics transported the injured motorcycle rider to Kern Medical where he later died.
Additionally, investigators seek to determine the cause of the Edison Highway motorcycle crash as well as liability. Surveillance footage in the area and witness statements will help them piece together what happened.
